TATTOO REMOVAL

Have you ever seen an old tattoo that is partially faded?

Tattoos naturally fade over time because the body's immune system recognises that tattoo ink is a foreign substance and tries to remove ink particles. Laser tattoo removal speeds up this natural process by shattering tattoo ink into smaller pieces that flush away more easily. However, Tattoo removal is not an instant fix. Usually being a several-
month commitment for patients.

Most tattoos require at least 5 treatments to achieve complete removal. and the treatments must be spaced between
4 - 8 weeks apart Depending on how much ink is getting broken down.

Tattoo removal is a popular cosmetic procedure that is safe, effective, and only takes minutes to perform.

HOW IT WORKS

Tattoo ink is trapped in the deepest layer of the skin. When tattoos are applied, ink particles are inserted with a needle into varying depths of this bottom layer.

When tattoo removal laser light is applied to the skin, it heats up and shatters the ink that it reaches first within the skin. In other words, the shallowest layers of ink are removed before the deepest layers.

It takes multiple treatments to penetrate through all of the varying depths of ink in a tattoo. If a tattoo is particularly dark or bold, it will require more treatments to remove the ink compared to shaded tattoos with a lower density of ink.

COLOURED INK

Green is the hardest color to remove followed by light blue. Neon colours are also difficult to remove, and typically require multiple treatments. As a general rule, the greater the contrast between the color of the tattoo pigment and your skin, the better the result.

Pre-existing conditions

Accutane users, pregnant women, breast feeding women, and those who have issues with keloiding are all not advised to get laser removal. If in doubt talk to your doctor first.

You Don’t have to remove it All

If you’ve only got a small part of the tattoo that’s wrong (e.g a mis-spelled name) consider just removing that part and having it redone. Laser removal is extremely precise so you can even remove just a single letter which is cheaper and quicker than having the whole thing done.

Every Tattoo is Different

No two cases are alike because every artist applies and uses different inks. Some are more heavy handed, some areas of skin are tougher than others etc etc. While an experienced removal specialist can give you a rough time line it’s all dependent on your skin.
